The aim of this conference, sponsored by the Center for Southeast Asia Studies at UC Berkeley (Director: Prof. Pheng Cheah), the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at UCLA (Director: Prof. George Dutton) and the Asian Institute at the University of Toronto (Director: Rachel Silvey), is to look anew at issues concerning migration and Southeast Asia.
