An intimate discussion with Erwin Chemerinsky (dean of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law) and Jeffrey Edleson (dean and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Social Welfare)
The foremost authority of the first amendment and free speech (Chemerinsky) and a leading expert on domestic abuse (Edleson) discuss the rights and privileges of our voices—how both our government and even the people we trust most can try to silence us and take away our most fundamental rights as human beings.
Their guided discussion will focus on the paradox of power that’s responsible with both protecting and restricting our voices, and how we each play in enabling (and limiting) other people’s freedoms and liberties.
Followed by a dessert reception.
This program was made possible by the generous support of the Lisa and Douglas Goldman Fund.
