This all-day workshop covers artifact illustration and inking in a two step process. We will spend the morning illustrating ceramic vessels (complete and incomplete) and flaked stone tools/debitage Illustration is a time consuming procedure, but if we have time, each person should be able to pencil draw both kinds of artifacts. We will break for lunch and during the afternoon we will finish up illustration and then focus on tracing these technical drawing with pen and ink on velum, while discussing the various conventions for patterns/colors on a black/white illustration. Graph paper/velum will be provided. While we have rulers/calipers, please feel free to bring your own (just in case). If you have your own ceramics/lithic artifacts to illustrate, feel free to bring them in. Otherwise, samples will be provided for practice.
