A sci-fi tale that unwinds in the environs of the soul takes the form of a nightmarish quest for nothing less than truth itself. In a plot employing the roughest outlines of a novel by Soviet sci-fi writers Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, a writer and a scientist follow a shaven-headed “stalker” into forbidden territory, a dangerous wilderness known as the Zone.

Margaret Atwood's classic, and timely, novel The Handmaid's Tale has been selected as the focus of this year's On the Same Page program at UC Berkeley. Atwood will kick off the program with a lecture in the first week of classes, giving us food for thought to animate and inform ongoing discussions of her work throughout the fall term.

 Show a valid Cal id for free admission. At 6:45 we will open admission to the general public if any seats remain.
