This 2 hour in-person workshop for staff is part of the BPM Grow Your Knowledge series. In this highly interactive workshop, each participants experience is drawn upon for the learning. Ideally, to contribute to and enhance understanding, participants will come with current and/or previous people management experience.
The content covers budgeting and using your units resources.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Explain how money comes to campus and is distributed to units
Explain the nature of university budgeting permanent/temporary, incremental vs. formulaic, etc.
Describe the rudiments of fund accounting and how it impacts budgeting and resource allocation
Locate the tools available to managers for budgets
Apply best practices for developing a unit budget
Recognize considerations in times of budget reductions
Check progress mid-year
