Printing Soft Matter in Three Dimensions

Lecture | October 30 | 4-5 p.m. | Sutardja Dai Hall, Banatao Auditorium

 Professor Jennifer Lewis, Harvard University

 Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)

3D printing enables one to rapidly design and fabricate materials in arbitrary shapes on demand. I will introduce the fundamental principles that underpin 3D printing methods pioneered by our group. I will then describe the design, composition, and rheological properties of functional, structural and biological inks that we have developed, which are vastly expanding the capabilities of 3D printing. Finally, I will highlight several examples from our recent work, including the fabrication and characterization of soft electronics, robotics, and programmable architected matter.
