Interested in exploring data science as a career path? Come learn insights about critical skill-sets and how to get hired from current part-time MEng student, Farshad Miraftab.
Farshad is currently a Data Scientist on Asurion's Big Data team responsible for driving customer engagement using machine learning principals. He's developed various models to predict customer churn, improve customer contact rates, and optimize content delivery. Previously he spent 4 years at PG&E, holding various roles including Senior Risk Analyst and lead Data Scientist where he developed optimization models to prioritize capital investments. He also developed models to predict gas pipeline failures while supporting regulatory discussions with the California Public Utility Commissions regarding the future of embracing a data-driven decision making framework. Farshad has a bachelors in Engineering from UC Davis, a Strategic Decision Making and Risk Management certificate from Stanford University, and is currently completing a Master's of Engineering degree at the UC Berkeley's College of Engineering.
