Archaeological Databases with Filemaker

This workshop will present the organization and logic behind a prototype database for excavation data that answers questions of when, where, and duration of events and artifacts within the site. This database represents a series of best practices depending on which of three different excavation methods you use (lot/level, modified harris, or single context). Tables for many different artifact types are linked to excavation contexts and in consultation with domain experts, a series of attributes that everyone should record about those materials are present. We will show you how to add your own data to the existing tables, and how to add additional materials to the existing structure. It may also have ArcGIS support by this time as well.
