Lecture | February 1 | 12-1 p.m. | Sutardja Dai Hall, 310, Banatao Auditorium
I will discuss turning thoughts/dreams into reality in an entrepreneurial setting. I'll over the particular cases of OpenCV and of my latest company, Arraiy.com which uses deepnets and vision to help visual storytelling. I'll end with some inspirational out of the box thinking on robotics etc.
Gary Bradski is founder and CEO of most popular open source computer vision library, OpenCV. He ran the vision team for Stanley, the robot that won the DARPA Grand Challenge robot race across the desert. He also co-founded the Stanford AI Robotics program at Stanford University (STAIR) where he was consulting faculty in the Stanford CS program. Out of this grew the PR1 robot and indirectly Willow Garage, the PR2 robot and the ROS robot operating system. He was the key higher at VideoSurf, the first video search engine which later sold to Microsoft. He has been involved in founding, running and advising start ups ever since. In 2013, he sold Industrial Perception, a robotics start up that he co-founded, to Google and went on to build the Silicon Valley office of of Magic Leap. He is now putting OpenCV on a firmer financial foundation. He recently co-founded and is CTO of Arraiy.com -- a company devoted to democratizing cinematography and visual storytelling in movies, AR, VR and games.
