Who among us hasn’t experienced difficult moods and mind states such as sadness, anxiety, dread, fear and grief? Mindfulness is a time-tested and research-based healing alternative to being dragged down into what can feel often like a bottomless pit. Paying attention to what’s happening with intention and without reactivity helps us experience difficult moods from a different perspective, one that enhances our natural capacity for compassion, empathy, attention and presence. Please join us in learning three key mindful methods to help stabilize the mind and bring a sense of warmth and compassion to human suffering.

Speaker Bio: Ronna Kabatznick, Ph.D. is a social psychologist specializing in mindfulness. She has been meditating since 1985 and has been teaching mindfulness for more than twenty years. Dr. Kabatznick received her degree in 1984 from the City University of New York. She has been on the faculty of City, Hunter and Queens College and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute (UCSF). She is the author of two best-selling books, The Zen of Eating: Ancient Answers to Modern Weight Problems and Who by Water: Reflections of a Tsunami Psychologist. Dr. Kabatznick is also an Advisor to the Center for Mindful Eating (www.tcme.org). She has a private practice in Berkeley and works remotely with individuals throughout the US, Canada and Europe.
