Conference/Symposium | June 13 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | Zellerbach Hall
If you believe the arts matter, that everyone deserves meaningful access to the arts, and that the arts belong to all of us, then you belong at this summer's inaugural Artistic Literacy Institute.
Over the course of our three days, we will introduce and explore artistic literacy as a framework and a methodology. From plenary discussions about core values and strategies to immersive arts experiences that will allow us to deepen our learning, weve planned a full slate of scaffolded events and networking opportunities.
We will also hold several break-out sessions, allowing participants to focus intently on curriculum development and implementation for specific populations (K-12 classrooms, university campuses, lifelong learners and general audiences).
Our approach builds upon and refines decades of best practices in arts education, particularly as exemplified by Lincoln Center Education, the Kennedy Center, and other leaders in arts-based learning and teaching.
If you have any training in these methodologies, the Artistic Literacy framework invites you to leverage your expertise in new ways. If you are new to arts-based teaching and learning, you'll leave our institute with a fresh vocabulary and set of tools to engage students of any age to connect with works of art.
Registration opens May 6. Register online by June 13.
