Allostery and genetic information integration
Seminar | October 21 | 4-5 p.m. | 106 Stanley Hall
Jeremy Gunawardena, Harvard Medical School
I will describe recent results which show that allosteric conformational ensembles of sufficient
complexity can implement any form of information integration that is achievable without energy
expenditure. I will discuss to what extent this mechanism may account for the information processing which occurs during eukaryotic gene regulation, in which many small packets of information must be integrated from across the genome to determine how to express a gene.
