Chris Wiggins, associate professor of applied mathematics at Columbia University and Chief Data Scientist at The New York Times, will give an overview of lessons learned teaching the new course, "Data: Past, Present, and Future." The course traces intellectual technical advances from the 18th Century through the present, pairing them with critical inquiry into the forces that encouraged and benefited from the new capabilities.
