WHEN, WHERE, AND WHY IMPACT CAPITAL WORKS
A PANEL DISCUSSION AND CELEBRATION FUELED BY DRINKS AND BITES FROM LA COCINA'S ENTREPRENEURS
Whether in Bayview or Mombasa, business as usual skips out on low-income communities. Join Acumen, La Cocina, and the Autodesk Foundation for a panel discussion of how we can change that. What capital is needed to empower businesses serving low-income communities, and when? How can corporate foundations, nonprofits, and impact investors support and scale early stage social impact companies?
Since 2001, Acumen has invested $113M in 108 companies serving low-income customers, looking for businesses where social impact is built into the bottom line. The Autodesk Foundation supports the design and creation of innovative solutions for climate change and the future of work worldwide. Closer to home, nonprofit accelerator La Cocina builds the ecosystem of dignified work in the Bay Area by incubating food businesses started by low-income entrepreneurs.
From these three different points of view, well dig in to what capital is needed to scale social enterprises - celebrating, throughout, how business can and must be part of the solution over drinks and bites from La Cocinas immigrant entrepreneurs.
