Henry David Thoreau's Walden (1854) is a cornerstone of the environmental movement, the American literary tradition, and modern philosophy. Mitchell Breitwieser, the Daniel E. Koshland, Jr. Chancellor's Distinguished Chair in Writing, will introduce us to this this rich and complex work.
