Workshop | November 7 | 1-3 p.m. | 55A McCone Hall

Nancy Thomas, Geospatial Innovation Facility (GIF)

 Library

This workshop introduces the basic principles of digital satellite and aerial imagery and is appropriate for attendees who have some understanding of geospatial data fundamentals but have little or no experience in remote sensing. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on activities, we will explore the components and characteristics of digital imagery. Participants will learn how to find and download satellite and aerial imagery, how to display and enhance digital imagery, and basic techniques for image interpretation and analysis. This workshop will be taught using QGIS, a free and open source geospatial software package.

Participants should have a basic level of familiarity with geospatial concepts and tools and bring a laptop with QGIS installed.
