One of this years top theatrical documentary releases, the inspired Kedi strikes a chord: capturing the spirited character of the felines that roam Istanbul freely and depicting the beauty of the city, it touches us at a time of uncertainty in the world. Director Ceyda Torun returns to her native Istanbul, where, in her words, the cats are the one constant element, becoming synonymous with the city itself and ultimately, embodying its soul. This film is, in many ways, a love letter to those cats and the city, both of which are changing in ways that are unpredictable.
