Arithmetic Geometry and Number Theory RTG Seminar: Solutions of Equations Involving the Modular $j$ Function

Inspired by work done for systems of polynomial exponential equations, I will talk about systems of equations involving the modular $j$-function, and in particular I will show general cases in which these systems have solutions. Then we will look at certain situations in which the modular Schanuel conjecture implies that these systems have generic solutions. This is joint work with Sebastián Herrero (PUCV).

In the pre-talk I'll present a history of Schanuel's conjecture and give an overview of the results for the exponential function which motivated this work.
