Five Tables of Blackness and Belonging
Exhibit - Multimedia | June 6 | 4-7 p.m. | Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive
Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive
This viewing session extends the conversation on blackness and belonging, as articulated in the exhibition About Things Loved, into the study center. These works explore the multiplicity of black art and its dialogue with dispossession, institutional collecting practices, black radical thought, and everyday life. On view this session: one of Laylah Alis conceptual prints; Shinique Smiths abstract Salt & Pepper screenprint; Sanford Biggerss work gesturing to migration; Sasha Kelleys intimate portrayal of the exhaustion accompanying the everyday commute; Fred Wilsons sharp critique of the museum as seen in X; and more!
