Human Rights Center, The Subir & Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies, Institute for South Asia Studies, Department of South & Southeast Asian Studies, Center for Southeast Asia Studies

The Human Rights Center presents a striking show of black and white photography by Chris Beale documenting Burma's Rohingya people through the events of 2012-2017, beginning with life in the villages and confinement camps of Rakhine State (Myanmar), through the wave of ethnic cleansing and the mass exodus of Rohingya people over land and on boats, to the now sprawling refugee camps in Bangladesh. This reception will feature HRC staff and student experts on human rights and hate speech in Myanmar such as Eric Stover and Felim McMahon as well as narrated tours of the photographs.
