Workshop | November 19 | 6-7:30 p.m. | LeConte Hall, 375 LeConte Hall

Deborah Moore, Union of Concerned Scientists

Society for Conservation Biology, Berkeley Chapter

Tuesday, 11/19, 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Have you wondered how to write a brief on a scientific topic for policymakers? How do you write a policy brief vs a non-policy brief? How technical or non-technical should the language be? How do you find background information on the policy side of the topic? If so, please join us for a policy brief workshop with Deborah Moore, Western States Senior Campaign Manager at the Union of Concerned Scientists. The first 45 minutes will be an introduction to what are policy briefs and how to write them, and the second 45 minutes will be time to practice writing a brief. We will focus on writing a brief about your own research (it doesn't need to relate to policy), but you are also welcome to write about a policy issue that is unrelated to your research, independently or as a small team. This workshop is hosted by the Society of Conservation Biology and the Science Policy Group. Pizza will be provided.
