DESCRIPTION:Peter Bol\, Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilizations and the Director of the Center for Geographic Analysis\, Harvard University\n\n"Computing and the Practice of History" is an effort to elucidate some of the opportunities\, advantages\, and pitfalls that accompany the "digital turn" in historical research. Our guest is Peter Bol\, the Charles H. Carswell Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilizations and the Director of the Center for Geographic Analysis at Harvard. \nHe will give this public lecture Computing and the Practice of History on April 12\, 4:30pm\, in 370 Dwinelle. The following day Professor Bol will lead a <a href="http://events.berkeley.edu/index.php/calendar/sn/arf.html?event_ID=54595">workshop on April 13\, 1-4pm</a>. \nThe lecture is free and open to the public.
