By examining and exploring the various strategies by which Romanies have represented themselves and others\, both in dialogue with and apart from the larger societies in which they live\, the Inaugural Conference in Romani Studies seeks to support continued research in this rapidly-growing field. Scholars will present on Romani representations in non-Romani cultures\, contemporary social and political issues facing Romani communities across the globe\, and Roma-related research in the fields of Education\, Comparative literature\, Art History\, Architecture\, History\, Holocaust Studies\, Anthropology\, Ethnomusicology and Women’s and Gender Studies.
