Kirsti Kauppi, Ambassador of Finland to the United States, will discuss topical international issues as seen from Finland, a Nordic country, a staunch member of the European Union and a close partner but not a member of NATO. The state of the transatlantic relations is fundamentally important for a small nation like Finland that depends on a rules-based international system. What are the Finns most worried about and how does the government respond to these concerns in their foreign and security policies?
In the second half of this year Finland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union - in a situation that can be called turbulent. What are Finnish priorities? As an Arctic nation, Finland has a clear stance on tackling climate change and promoting sustainability within the region and beyond. How does Finland punch above its weight globally?
