Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at NYU-Poly

The UC Berkeley Statistics Department Commencement Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 2pm in Wheeler Auditorium on-campus. An informal reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Wheeler Lobby.

We are pleased to announce that Nassim Nicholas Taleb will be the Commencement Speaker. Prof. Taleb spent 20 years as a derivatives trader before starting a full-time career as a scholar focusing on probability, uncertainty and model error. He is currently Distinguished Professor of Risk Engineering at NYU-Poly and the author of The Black Swan (32 languages) and Antifragility (forthcoming, September 2012). His interest is in designing systems that gain from uncertainty.
