The Global Book Club, an initiative of the SLC Language Exchange Program, will host a conversation with esteemed American author Maxine Hong Kingston on December 7th, from 12-2PM. Join us to hear Kingston discuss her award-winning novel The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts and share insight into her writing and storytelling process.About the LEP Global Book Club
The Global Book Club was launched in Fall 2018 by the SLC Language Exchange Program with the mission to bring the diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of our campus community together for discussions about literature from around the world. About the Author
Maxine Hong Kingston is the author of acclaimed works such as China Men and The Fifth Book of Peace. The Woman Warrior, her first novel, features a blend of mythology, family lore, and personal stories to illuminate her experiences as the daughter of Chinese immigrants. A UC Berkeley alum and lecturer emerita, Kingston has received numerous awards, including the National Humanities Medal and the National Medal of the Arts, for her work in literature and activism.
