Panel Discussion | November 13 | 7-8:30 p.m. | 2060 Valley Life Sciences Building

Berny and Geston, Respect + Rebellion

 Bridge USA

In a time when blue and red seem so divided, two people with very similar backgrounds but divergent political beliefs prove that friendship is possible and raise hopes for a Purple America. Join BridgeUSA in welcoming Berny and Geston, a Democratic pastor and Republican politician respectively, as they discuss issues such as:

1. Immigration laws
2. Stand Your Ground Laws vs Consitutional Rights
3. Black Lives Matter vs Blue Lives Matter
4. Why We Love America
5. Critiques of America
6. What America Can Be

Friends since middle school, Berny and Geston both grew up in Haiti, immigrated to the United States around the same time, and have remained close till this day. Berny is a Republican, law school graduate, and a candidate for Florida State Representative. Geston is a Democrat, dedicated pastor, and member of the Acapella group "Committed". Regardless of their differences, they both hold deep respect for one another and aim to convey important ideas during their talk like you can disagree without being disagreeable and uniformity is not a prerequisite to unity.

Here's the official website where you can learn more about Berny and Geston as well as their discussion: https://respectandrebellion.com/speakers/berny-geston/

Please come out on November 13 7pm-8:30pm at VLSB 2060 to hear what they have to say!
