 CITRIS and the Banatao Institute

Please join us for the CITRIS Silicon Valley Forum 2018 where we share our innovative, cross-disciplinary research. Our fourth and final panel for Spring 2018 offers insights into how surgical robotics is revolutionizing minimally invasive surgery across many subspecialties including Urology, Gynecology, Cardiothoracic, General Surgery, and ear-nose-throat (ENT). Our Medical Robotics Panel will tackle questions like, how should one think about robotics as a next generation of network-connected medical devices, from concept and design, through manufacturing, deployment, and use? What are the next generation medical robotic technologies? and What are the implications for health systems, digital health companies, and healthcare payors?

Moderated by Prof. Bahram Ravani, Director of CITRIS at UC Davis, this event will investigate how medical robotics has the potential to radically change healthcare delivery. Presenters include Prof. Nejad, Director of Robotic Surgery, UC Davis Medical Center, who will describe how research advances are changing lives of patients with better outcomes, less post-operative pain, minimal cosmetic scarring & quicker recovery times, and also improving the well-being of surgeons by providing ergonomic advantages. Dr. Bodduluri, UC Alum and Founder & CTO of Restoration Robotics, will describe two technologies that have moved from research to commercial applications to treat cancerous tumors and other malformations noninvasively. Dr. David Lindeman, Director of CITRIS Health, will introduce the new health science clinical technology innovation center at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento and the CITRIS model of academic/industry collaboration in research and commercialization.

The event will be highly interactive, including short presentations with plenty of time for Q+A and networking. Lunch will be provided.
