Noon Concert: University Chorus and University Chamber Chorus

Performing Arts - Music: Noon Concert: Chamber Chorus: University Chorus | April 17 | 12 p.m. |  Hertz Concert Hall

 Department of Music

Wei Cheng, director

Switching (G)ears.
The inspiration for the noon concert’s program stems from the idea of switching (g)ears. Since it is a joint concert of Chamber Chorus and University Chorus, I chose works that are similar (the meaning of text or using same composer, etc.) but also different (contrasting in music styles or character of texts, etc.). Some composers include Chen Yi, Vincent Persichetti, Arvo Pärt, Moses Hogan, etc.

Commencing its 67th season, the Noon Concert series features the Music Department’s varied and diverse performance activities. Inaugurated in 1953, these concerts are very popular and well attended by those on campus and in the wider community. Traditionally on Wednesdays and Fridays, each concert begins promptly at 12:15 and ends by 1pm.
