Topology Seminar (Introductory Talk): Introduction to instanton and Lagrangian Floer theories

This pre-talk will show the basic ideas of Floer theories - doing Morse theory on infinite dimensional function spaces by means of rewriting the gradient flow into a PDE - at the two classical examples: instanton Floer homology of a three-manifold arising from the Chern-Simons functional on a space of connections on Y, and Lagrangian Floer homology arising from an action functional on a space of paths between the Lagrangians.
