David Merrill is a technology executive and startup founder with a background in computer science and human-computer interaction. He is the CEO and co-founder of Elroy Air, which builds large autonomous aircraft systems to deliver goods to remote places worldwide. Merrill started a tactile learning system startup based on his Ph.D at MIT that was later acquired by 3D Robotics, where he then helped launch Solo: The Smart Drone in 2015. As a human-computer interaction expert and drone builder, Merrill's work and ideas have been presented at TED, the Discovery Channel, Popular Science, Wired, and the New York Times. 

Merrill's talk is part of our continuing series, Design Field Notes, held on Mondays from 1-2pm at 220 Jacobs Hall. This event is free and welcome to all students and the public.
