Professor Emeritus, Robert Bea, will be presenting on the Deepwater Horizon disaster, Wednesday April 17, from 10am to 12noon in Cory Hall Rm 247.
The special presentation, "System Risk Assessment & Management Failures: The Deepwater Horizon Disaster," is sponsored by the UC Berkeley Center for Catastrophic Risk Management (CCRM).
Dr. Bea recently gave testimony at the ongoing BP trial over the disaster and continues to be involved in the court case. He is also in the final stages, as UC Berkeley principal investigator, in completing a risk assessment and management initiative for the National Science Foundation looking at infrastructures in the California Delta.
Dr. Bea brings considerable engineering experience in the New Orleans' 2005 Katrina disaster and aftermath as well. While the presentation will be focusing on the latest from Deepwater, Dr. Bea will also touch on the Katrina and Delta material, where appropriate.
