Lecture | February 7 | 12:30-1:30 p.m. | 201 Moses Hall

Dr. Robert Strand, Center for Responsible Business at Berkeley Haas

Institute of European Studies, Center for Responsible Business, Nordic Studies Program

How have the Nordics come to dominate virtually all measurements of sustainability? From the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Nordic countries and companies always command the top - or very near the top - of sustainability measurements. Join Robert Strand as he shares lessons he has drawn from over 15 years of inquiry in the Nordic region and what learnings we apply in the U.S.

Dr. Robert Strand is the Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business and member of the faculty at the Berkeley Haas School of Business. He is also Associate Professor with the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark and was previously a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Norway. His research and teaching compares U.S. and Nordic approaches to sustainable and socially responsible business. More recently, he has turned attention to contrast capitalism in the U.S. and Nordic contexts. He is currently working on the book project 'Sustainable Vikings'.
