A Conversation Across the Political Divide: The Role of Government in Trade, Taxes, and Inequality

Panel Discussion | March 20 | 5-6:30 p.m. | International House, Chevron Auditorium

Office of Chancellor, Goldman School of Public Policy’s Center on Civility & Democratic Engagement

We are thrilled to welcome students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the campus to the first in a series of speaker events we will host this spring and next fall. Robert Reich, Chancellor's Professor and Carmel P. Friesen Chair in Public Policy and former Secretary of Labor will be joined on the stage by Stephen Moore, Distinguished Visiting Fellow, Project for Economic Growth, Institute for Economic Freedom and Opportunity at the Heritage Foundation. The two appear frequently together on CNN, where they respectfully - but very vigorously - challenge each other’s perspectives on societal issues.

Our hope for this speaker series is to highlight dynamic conversations across divergent views in a way that will both expand minds and model the notion that people can discuss different viewpoints with intellect, passion, and humanity. Visit freespeech.berkeley.edu to learn more about other relevant events. A closed-captioned recording of this conversation will be posted there when the event has concluded.
