TRUST Security Seminar: Cyber-Physical Systems Security for the Smart Grid

Lecture: TRUST | March 21 | 1-2 p.m. | 521 Cory Hall

Manimaran Govindarasu, Iowa State University

Team for Research in Ubiquitous Secure Technology

The electric power grid is a highly automated network that uses a variety of sensors, information/control systems, and communication networks for the purpose of sensing, monitoring, and controlling the physical grid. This talk first provides a brief taxonomy of potential cyber threats on the power grid and then presents a cyber-physical systems framework for risk modeling and mitigation of cyber attacks that accounts for dynamics of the physical system, as well as the operational aspects of the cyber-based control system.
