Douglas Finkbeiner (CfA): Mapping dust at high resolution with WISE and in 3D with Pan-STARRS

My group at CfA is working to improve the angular resolution of the SFD (1998) dust map by a factor of 10 by using PAH emission measured by WISE. We are also pushing into the 3rd dimension by estimating the dust distribution along each line of sight over 3/4 of the sky using stellar photometry from Pan-STARRS. I will report on the status of both projects, and discuss a few possible applications.
