How to get started in undergraduate research: Workshop A

Workshop | November 20 | 10-11 a.m. | 9 Durant Hall

Wendy Muse Sinek, Program Coordinator, Haas Scholars Program, Office of Undergraduate Research

Office of Undergraduate Research

This workshop will give you a broad overview of why and how to get started planning for an original research or creative project as an undergraduate. Topics to be covered include:

• exploring your intellectual interests;
• finding a faculty mentor or sponsor;
• eligibility, application requirements, and deadlines for potential funding sources; and
• planning ahead for a successful application.

You should attend this workshop if you are:

• an academically motivated student in any discipline at UC Berkeley, whether or not you plan to apply for the Haas Scholars Program;
• interested in taking an active approach to your education;
• curious about available campus funding opportunities for original research or creative projects;
• interested in developing a close mentoring relationship with a faculty member.

This workshop is open to all students in any discipline. Freshmen and sophomores, as well as upperclass students, are strongly encouraged to attend.
