Joseph Lewnard, PhD, joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology in July 2018. His work addresses the natural history and transmission dynamics of infectious disease agents, and implications for the performance and evaluation of interventions. Much of this work has been focused on vaccine-preventable pediatric infections.

Dr. Lewnard will be discussing differences between the US and the UK in serotype replacement in invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) and he will explore potential contributing factors including surveillance practices, transmission dynamics, population risk factors, and pathogen evolution.
