Workshop: What Makes Environmentalism So White?

Workshop | October 24 | 6-7 p.m. | Latimer Hall, 120 Latimer

Academic Senate

This Climate Justice Week join us for a workshop on whiteness in the environmental movement. American Environmentalism has a history of exclusion of people of color, marginalizing POC narratives, and explicit racism. The campus environmental community is complacent in its role in perpetuating this destructive phenomenon. This workshop is dedicated to providing some historical context on whiteness in environmentalism, giving some contemporary examples of environmental racism, and discussing tools to move forward to address this disparity. We will end with a panel of students and alumni that will answer your questions!
