Vicki Ray, piano: ecStatic – new music for piano and electronics

Described as “phenomenal and fearless,” Grammy nominated pianist Vicki Ray is a leading interpreter of contemporary piano music. Known for thoughtful and innovative programming which seeks to redefine the piano recital in the 21st century, Vicki’s concerts often include electronics, video, recitation and improvisation.

Continuing its 66th season, the Noon Concert series features the Music Department’s varied and diverse performance activities. Inaugurated in 1953, these concerts are very popular and well attended by those on campus and in the wider community. Traditionally on Wednesdays and Fridays, each concert begins promptly at 12:15 and ends by 1pm.

20-time Grammy winner and 2018 NEA Jazz Master Pat Metheny is known for his broad expressive range across a variety of guitars, from Gibson “archtop” and nylon-string to guitar synthesizer and the unique 42-string Pikasso. Metheny’s latest all-star quartet finds him with longtime drummer Antonio Sánchez, rising star bassist Linda Oh, and versatile pianist Gwilym Simcock.
