One Laptop per Child (OLPC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a low-cost, low-power, connected laptop, loaded with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. Founded in January 2005 and funded exclusively by private and corporate donations, OLPC has distributed more than 1 million low-cost laptops to impoverished children throughout the Americas, Africa, and the world, purchased almost entirely by the governments themselves. This year, OLPC will scale-up its university engagement through the Corps program.
