The rising power of the European Union and Asia notwithstanding, Dr. Joffe asserts in a recent article in the journal Foreign Affairs, "the United States remains first on any scale of power that matters, whether it is economic, military, diplomatic, or cultural", all of which, he reports, are under no immediate threat of being surpassed.
