Cultural Concepts of Distress and Curanderismo

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 lists cultural concepts of distress from Latin America such as susto, ataque de nervios, and nervios. These concepts and the Mexican American folk healing system, Curanderismo, will be presented with recommendations for social work research and clinical practice.
