Atlassian Tech Talk: A discussion about cyber security at Atlassian and beyond

Information Session | January 29 | 6-7:30 p.m. | Soda Hall, Wozniak Lounge (430)

Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS)

Adrian has been working in cyber-security for over 20 years -- since well before the word "cyber" was used in this context. His career spans time with the US National Security Agency, the CIA, @Stake, Microsoft, Adobe, Google, and now as the Chief Information Security Officer at Atlassian. Along the way, he has had the fortune to learn a lot about how security works in the real world. He's been told his work has saved lives, and at other times that his work would lead to lives being lost. And that was on the same project.

Adrian will be discussing how his approach to security, and how the Atlassian approach to security have been shaped by this personal journey. Although encryption and a few other security words will get mentioned, this won't be a deeply technical talk -- it will be primarily be focused on sharing stories and things Adrian has learned from his experiences along the way. It will provide another unique perspective on how academic work and experience are brought to bear in a constantly changing technical world.

Food will be provided.
