The Japanese American Women Alumnae of UC Berkeley (JAWAUCB) will hold its 28th Annual Spring Scholarship and Award Luncheon on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Berkeley Country Club,7901 Cutting Boulevard, El Cerrito. The luncheon will honor the 2018 undergraduate and graduate recipients of student scholarships and feature keynote speaker, Dianne Fukami, and recognize the contributions of outstanding alumna, Margaret Kusaba, UCB '48.
"A Life Behind the Lens: Documenting Japanese America" is the title of Ms. Fukami's luncheon talk. She is an Emmy-award winning TV producer, a graduate of UC Berkeley's School of Journalism, and co-founder of Bridge Media, Inc., a media production and consulting company. Currently, she is co-producing and directing a documentary on the life of Norman Mineta. Margaret Kusaba served on the JAWAUCB board for 23 years, helping to preserve the organization's history and legacy with her detailed keeping of records. She has been active in San Francisco education and JACL activities.
The event will begin with registration at 10:30 AM followed by a general meeting at 11 AM. Luncheon and program are scheduled from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM. Registration information can be found on JAWAUCB.org.
