Student Algebraic Geometry Seminar: Equivariant localization for periodic cyclic homology

Seminar | September 18 | 4-5 p.m. | 748 Evans Hall

 Harrison Chen, UC Berkeley

 Department of Mathematics

This talk will be mostly introductory. We will define the cyclic homology of perfect sheaves on a stack from a categorical and geometric standpoint via circle actions on categories and derived loop spaces. We will review equivariant localization in broad strokes, state it for periodic cyclic homology of smooth toric quotient stacks and give an idea of the proof. Time permitting, I will discuss ongoing work on various generalizations.
