The age structure of the homeless population has shifted, so that now approximately half of homeless single adults are aged 50 and above. The changing age structure has implications for health, health care utilization and the use of institutional care. The Health Outcomes of People Experiencing Homelessness in Older Middle Age (HOPE HOME) study is an ongoing longitudinal cohort study that examines homelessness among older adults in Oakland, California. Using results from HOPE HOME, we will examine the causes and consequences of homelessness in older adults and examine potential solutions., 510-643-8571
