Progressive Mayorship in the Trump Era

In November 2016, Jesse Arreguin was elected the first Latino mayor of Berkeley. Prior to this win, Mayor Arreguin expanded affordable housing, helped establish the minimum wage and fought for tenants, immigrants, and civil liberties as a city council member.

Mayor Arreguin will discuss what it means to be a progressive mayor in the Trump era, what it means for Berkeley to be a sanctuary city and how students can get involved in local efforts to assist our most vulnerable people.
