Programmed by Chika Okoye and David Brazil

Join pastor, author, and community activist Lynice Pinkard for a lecture and conversation entitled “Our Usable Past.” Pinkard examines historical, cultural, and movement moments to reveal the particular gifts that New World Africans have brought and continue to bring, and explores the dialectical tensions between suffering and hope, sorrow and freedom. She asks: As people who were bound to be bound, how are we now becoming free, and how can we tap the power and possibility that is us?
