Jeffery R. Webber is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary University of London. His latest books are The Last Day of Oppression, and the First Day of the Same: The Politics and Economics of the New Latin American Left (Haymarket, 2017) and, with Todd Gordon, Blood of Extraction: Canadian Imperialism in Latin America (Fernwood, 2016).

"Oil, Socialism, and Revolution in Venezuela: A Reckoning"

Alejandro Velasco is Associate Professor of Modern Latin America at the Gallatin School and the Department of History at New York University. His book Barrio Rising: Urban Popular Politics and the Making of Modern Venezuela (California 2015) won the Fernando Coronil Best Book Award from the Section on Venezuelan Studies of the Latin American Studies Association. He is the Executive Editor of NACLA Report on the Americas.
